Before treatment.

This painting had been severely vandalized and a strip of canvas has fallen behind the painting at the lower left.

After treatment.

Slowly the portrait began to come together. It was lined with a new canvas fused to the back for stability. It was cleaned and the fillings used in the areas of the slashes were in-painted to match the surrounding color and design. It was then given a coat of non-yellowing varnish.
